“Much quieter than a gas mower. I would guesstimate less than half as much noise.”
The simplicity of starting the mower with just a push of a button is contrasted with the difficulty of starting gas mowers that often require yanking a pull cord. (21 reviews)
“Very easy and convenient to stop the mower and start back up when needed.”
“Start up: I must be getting old but yanking on the cord multiple times to get the gas mower going was becoming something I dreaded. This one starts quickly at the press of a button...”
“Gave it to my neighbor lady who can't start a gas mower, she really likes it!”
“Easy starting via the button”
“Since it's electric it's super easy to start”
“Easy quick start every time”
“Very easy to start with just a push of a button”

“Easy to start. Push the button. Grab the rail. She comes to life.”

“Not smelling obnoxious gas fumes after mowing is great as well.”

“No need to store gas, change plugs, or mess with changing oil, etc., just plug and run”
“The electric eliminates the gas fumes and hassle”
“Environmentally friendly. Since most electricity generation is cleaner than a typical lawn mower engine, better choice environmentally.”
The steel deck construction contributes to the mower's durability, being able to withstand impacts better than plastic models. (16 reviews)
“21" Steel deck. The actual blade is 19.5" leaving you a little less than an inch on either side of the deck that won't be cut. It's also going to survive rocks/sticks much better than the plastic ones.”
“Deck: The Greenworks line at this time has all metal decks.”
“Steel deck is more durable than B&D electrics.”
“replaced with this greenworks and it has lasted over a year so far”
“Metal frame that feels super sturdy”
“It seemed like it should last for years”
“I have a Green Works corded mower that I've used for 7 years with no problems.”
“It even chopped up an old brick (in the tall grass) like a Ginsu knife! Probably not recommended, but it can do it!”
“Surprisingly sturdy construction, with significant use of metal where it matters.”
“I always had good service from the powerful brushed 13 amp motor of the old version, and I expect the newer brushless version to be just as durable.”
The capability to mulch, bag, or discharge clippings gives users flexibility in how they want to handle lawn cuttings. (8 reviews)
“3 in one operation - A lot of electric mowers whether they're cordless or corded are limited on power, most get around this by using more efficient blade designs that generate less lift but mulching can be slower. Since this model has a side discharge that remains an option for thick grass and improves cut speed significantly without wasting your clippings”
“I've used it with the bag (which attaches very easily) with the mulching plug and, for a few minutes, with the side chute.”
“I can't yet speak about the mulching or side discharge, but the bagging worked really nicely”
“Bagging function seems to work well. Haven't tried the mulching function yet and I don't plan on using the side discharge.”
“We mulch most of the time, but use the bagger during the fall when we’re picking up lots of leaves. We have never used the optional side discharge chute although it fits well & can only imagine that it would work just fine”
“Also, there is an opening on the side that allows grass out if the grass catcher is too full.”
“It is versatile and easy to switch between rear bag, side discharge, and mulching modes.”
“You have a bagger to collect the clippings or you can mulch or let the clipping fly”
The folding handle and the ability to collapse the mower for storage is appreciated as it saves space and simplifies storage. (7 reviews)
“Collapsing the handle is rather convenient with the quick-release levers located midway down.”
“Given the mower shape and the cord reel I can store both in the space formerly occupied by just by my old electric mower”
“The handle folds and unfolds quickly and easily.”
“I fold it, stand it up and spray the blade side to get any grass, mud or gunk out of it.”
“Easy to store. The handle folds down for compact storage. Folding or unfolding takes about 15 seconds tops.”
“The mower folds down to fit in my suv and store upright when not in use.”
The Greenworks 48V 20" lawn mower's handle height can be adjusted for user comfort, a feature that has been positively noted for enhancing the mowing experience. (5 reviews)
“The height adjustment on the handle allowed me to find a comfortable position”
“Collapsing the handle is rather convenient with the quick-release levers located midway down.”
“The handle folds and unfolds quickly and easily.”
“Made for someone taller than myself (I'm 5'4"). Even with the handle at the shortest position”
“controls the handle height”
Coming with a dual port rapid charger allows for quick charging of the included batteries, which is convenient for users with larger lawns or who do not like waiting. (3 reviews)
“Dual Port Rapid Charger Included”
“the fast charger, great design”
“So far a single charge on the supplied rapid charger just about makes it through the whole lawn”
The Greenworks 48V 20" lawn mower has received some feedback from users indicating that its battery life may be insufficient for larger yards, leading to the need for a break to recharge or the purchase of additional batteries to complete the task without interruption. (20 reviews)
“The only thing that wasn't ideal was battery life. My yard is about a third of an acre, and typically takes a bit over an hour to cut. I didn't time it, but my batteries died when I was about half-way done.”
“My only complaint is how quickly the batteries die...”
“If you have a large yard would need more battery life.”
“Tried to use it for my first mow of the season and it took THREE CHARGES to mow my 1/4 —1/3 acre lawn.”
“However, I feel the battery life is too short and I had to purchase another battery so that I could finish mowing my whole lawn, which is under 1/5 of an acre.”
“I have to cut the front, charge again, and then the back to finish my yard. It's only 1400 sq ft of grass total.”
“Four stars because you need extra batteries off you want to do the front and back yard all at one time.”
While general performance is good, some users note that the mower struggles with cut quality when dealing with thick or tall grass, particularly when mulching. (17 reviews)
“Cutting thick or tall grass with the discharge open improves the pace and cut quality in this scenario but there are limitations, mowing fields is still going to produce a crappy cut no matter what you use.”
“If mowing at the highest height possible (3.5 inches) it cuts St Augustine visibly unevenly.”
“When mowing tall grass/weeds, do not try to bulldoze through. You could burn out the motor. Tilt the mower up and VERY gradually settle it over the tall grass/weeds. The rotor will do its job without the risk of it getting tangled and overtaxing the motor.”
“I have used Turbo mode a few times when I miss my weekly summer mowing schedule and my grass is longer.”
“The mower struggled with the thickness and height of the grass (admittedly taller than should have been).”
“Once maneuvered onto a patch of un-mowed grass of a height ranging from four inches to as little as un-sprouted grass seed, this Greenworks product requires approximately five to ten seconds to reduce blade speed from... well, whatever its maximum rotational speed is... to almost failing to turn at all.”
“It easily mows through waist-high weeds. I have to go a little slower than usual, but it chugs right through.”
“The mover is not super efficient for those types of jobs. It can cut it, but your battery won’t last long.”
“Had to raise the height of mower a few times when hit some rather tall areas of grass but this thing has one of the easiest height adjustment levels I've ever seen.”
In certain conditions, such as mulching, the blade speed can drop too low, leading to missed cuts or ragged lines. (3 reviews)
“Poor cut quality in some scenarios where blade speed can fall too low which is still a problem, but this really only occurs when mulching.”
“Given another ten seconds or so, the flywheel--given the mower's impressive weight, I assume it contains a flywheel--will finish dragging the blade along via sheer momentum for a few full turns, severing just enough grass to allow the blade to begin to build speed again.”
“I can see that there is some grass that gets left behind uncut even though I go slow when I hear it starting to struggle”
The Greenworks 48V 20" electric mower offers a quiet, easy-to-use alternative to gas models. It's light and simple to start with a push button, featuring a one-lever height adjustment and no fumes. Durable with a steel deck, it can mulch, bag, or discharge clippings. It folds for storage and has an adjustable handle. However, its battery may fall short for big yards and struggle with thick grass.

Why is this one cheaper than the smaller, lower amp model?
There are different versions. The corded versions are cheaper than the cordless because of the batteries.
How much cable is supplied with the mower ?
None. You have to by your own extension cord.
Is this mover corded and a mulching mower with a rear bagger. I also wanted a 13 amp power supply and corded. The handles they fold for easy storage
Yes, it is a electric mower, plug is just off the handle. It is supposed to mulch, but I have never used that function. Yes they can fold easily.
I have a 100' cord, i believe it is stamped inside in tiny letters as being 15awg. it also seems to say 3x15awg. also, does the voltage not matter? it
Voltage matters. Just following what the instructions reads. You won't go wrong. Thanks....
Is this motor design the brushless type or does it have brushes that will wear?
Hello snoweatr, This unit comes with brushes. It is not a brushless motor unit.
